An addition to an existing VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California. JAH’s solution was to create a volume that joined together two existing buildings and created a tranquil interstitial space that both seeks to honor veterans with its hanging airplane, but also to heal veterans with ample light, naturalistic design, privacy but not seclusion, and large volumetric spaces to decompress stressed veterans.
